The Brief

SOULE set out to be a home for Black LGBTQIA+ people online and in person. As founding Editor-in-Chief, I was brought in to define what the publication sounded like, who wrote for it, and how it would earn a loyal readership in a crowded media landscape.

What I Did
  • Set the editorial vision and launched the outlet’s content strategy from the ground up.
  • Built the bench. I recruited, trained and managed a team of 10 writers and contributors across the U.S.
  • Edited with data. I used content analytics to sharpen coverage, increasing time on site 40% and return visitors 30% over 12 months.
  • Took the brand offline with monthly events in New York, Los Angeles and Atlanta, each drawing 100+ attendees.
  • Brought in partners. I built relationships with LGBTQIA+ organizations and sponsors for Pride Month and cultural campaigns.
Why It Matters

SOULE is where I proved the full media-brand playbook in one role: editorial, team leadership, audience analytics, live experiences and partnerships. It’s the same playbook I bring to a Head of Content seat.
